iboga is obtained from a shrub-like tree. This tree grows very slowly in the shady jungle of Africa and forms ibogaine over the years, which is located between the bark and the underlying wood. It is said that you can start harvesting the plant after 7 years, but I personally would not harvest any of my iboga plants before at least 15 years or more have passed.
Since there is a lot of money in iboga, some dealers don't care if the quality is good or not. quality is good or not. Since the quality, i.e. the actual IBOGA content in the bark, cannot be determined with the naked eye, the customer has to rely on the honesty of the seller.You can test the bark in the laboratory by extracting the total alkaloid (TA) from the root bark, then you can see what % of the total alkaloids are in the plant and then calculate the iboga content.
The desired iboga content in the dry root bark is between 3-5% ,
but this occurs only in very old trees and therefore rather rarely. ATTENTION!!!
If someone speaks of an alkaloid content of 11%, then this does not mean the IBOGA!That is all 13 alkaloids, of which Iboga is only a small part.
